When Does The Last of Us Demo Arrive?

We’ve known for a while that God of War: Ascension would pack a demo for The Last of Us, but we didn’t know when the demo for developer Naughty Dog’s latest would go live. Well, we still don’t know for sure, but we’re narrowing down the dates.

On the back cover of God of War: Ascension, a footnote reads “Estimated availability for The Last of Us demo is April 2013. SEN [Sony Entertainment Network] account and internet access required.” Seems like that would be the end of the story, but when you click to access the demo from the God of War: Ascension main menu, you get a black and white image of Joel and Ellie along with a countdown clock that’s set to end on May 31, 2013, at 9 a.m. Pacific/noon Eastern/5 p.m. GMT.

I’ve reached out to PlayStation and am awaiting clarification. If I was a betting man, I’d trust the clock. Chances are the God of War cover was printed before the date was finalized.
