ASUS' Dual-Booting Transformer AiO Launching Q2 for $1,299

Last summer, ASUS revealed the Transformer AiO, which pairs a massive tablet with a desktop unit capable of dual-booting to Windows 8 or Android. As reported by Engadget, ASUS has finally revealed more finalized specs, and North American release window in the second quarter of 2013. Starting at $1,299, the machine offers two configurations: desktop mode or a pull-away tablet.

When paired with the desktop station, the Transformer AiO features Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 processor configurations, with memory options ranging from 4 to 8GB. Graphics are handled by a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT730M GPU, and storage is available up to 2TB SATA. As already announced, the Transformer AiO will run on Windows 8 in desktop mode, while taking advantage of the 10-point multitouch display. A selection of ports includes USB 3.0, as well as HDMI out.

But the Transformer AiO isn't relegated to the desktop. Removing the massive 18.4-inch tablet let's you take things on the go, and the device is then powered by a Tegra 3, quad-core processor. The 1920 x 1080 tablet can be switched over to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which means the Transformer AiO is actually capable of utilizing both the Windows and Android ecosystems. The stand-alone tablet features 2GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage. You can also use the device as a "remote desktop," linking it back with the PC station.

The Transformer AiO will be available later this year, and starts at $1,299.
