Batman Incorporated #10 Review

The grand finale of Grant Morrison's Batman tale is starting to wear thin. It feels like story beats are repeating themselves and that events are dragging on and losing their impact. Batman Incorporated #10 is a still a decent comic book, but the edges are starting to fray. There is a sense of redundancy that is starting to creep in. This series was amazing, then pretty great, and it's now resting firmly in “okay” territory. With each passing issue, I find myself caring less and less about how this story wraps up.

That said, Morrison has his usual flair for dramatics built into every page. There are some really great moments; that's not the problem. The problem is that it feels like we have seen these moments before. There's almost too much going on, and as the book skips from scene to scene, it starts to carry that “is this going anywhere?” spirit. It's definitely time for Morrison to bring this epic to a close.

Once again, artist Chris Burnham is assisted by two other artists. Jason Masters and Andrei Bressan each take a few pages, presumably to ensure that Batman Incorporated comes out on a regular, monthly schedule. While that may be a noble cause, it's a bummer that Burnham couldn't be given the time he needed to complete a full issue. Masters and Bressan blend nicely with his style, but there is a noticeable shift when they jump in for a page or two. This close to the end, DC should really just let Burnham finish out the series himself.
