With Skyfall director Sam Mendes now reportedly set to return to helm James Bond 24, the rumor mill has set its sights on who might join Daniel Craig in the cast.
According to The Daily Mail, Oscar winner Penelope Cruz is up for the female lead in the sequel. If a deal's made then Cruz would be the oldest Bond girl yet (she turns 40 next year), succeeding Honor Blackman who was 39 when she played Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.
"The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments," claims the paper's source. "The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."
Cruz, you may recall, is married to Skyfall villain actor Javier Bardem.
