Gamescom: Terminators: The Video Game Revealed

UK publisher Reef Entertainment has acquired “exclusive console video game rights” for 1984’s The Terminator and “console and PC video game rights” for 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day from Studiocanal.

Reef has announced it will create video games based on the licenses, the first of which appears to be Terminators: The Video Game.

“Here at Reef we are huge fans of 1984 & 1991 Sci-Fi action master-pieces” a Reef spokeperson said in a statement. “It’s an incredible opportunity and an equally huge responsibility to create a game that does great justice to the motion-pictures. We are studying all aspects and influences of the Terminator universe defined in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.  We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic and exciting Terminator video game.”

No mention of genre or specific platforms was made, nor were any screenshots of said project released. The logo below is all we have at the moment.

Whether the leather-clad slab of quantum testosterone Schwarzenegger is set to be involved in the project is unknown.

Reef is beginning to make a habit out of trawling through the ’80s for old action films to unearth and license; the publisher also has Rambo: The Video Game due out this year, a “fixed-perspective” first-person shooter (which is a slightly fancier way of saying rail-shooter).
