Anarchy Reigns Release Date Announced

Anarchy Reigns will launch on January 8, 2013 in the US and January 11, 2013 in Europe, SEGA has announced.

The multiplayer brawler will support up to 16 players and has a suggested retail cost of £19.99/€29.99/$29.99.

We heard rumours earlier this week that the game would release on these dates, and it appears they were correct. It's a relief, as for a time the game's future looked uncertain following its sudden delay in the West back in May.

Speaking about the new release date, Platinum Games' executive director Atsushi Inaba said, "Focusing on online play with Anarchy Reigns presented a new challenge for us here at PlatinumGames. Very few games fall under its genre of a melee-based online multiplayer brawler, so I think we’ve been able to supply a new kind of excitement that you can’t find anywhere else. While some time has passed since its Japan release, I look forward to having gamers in North American and Europe enjoy the Anarchy."

Anarchy Reigns will release simultaneously on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Valve Facing Legal Trouble over Steam Agreement

Valve Software could be facing legal trouble in Europe thanks to Steam’s End User License Agreement. The Federation of German Consumer Organization (known as the Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband e.V. in German, or VZBV) has given Valve until October 10th to respond to a claim that its recently-modified user agreement is unfair to consumers. If Valve doesn’t respond, the group will seek to “resolve the dispute in the court.”

The VZBV believes Valve’s agreement coerces users into accepting, as hitting "cancel" when the agreement pops up prevents users from logging into their accounts. The group believes this leads to "disadvantaged" Steam users and that Valve should uphold a recent ruling by the EU Court of Justice that users should be able to resell digital software.

Recently, Valve has been in the news for its Big Picture Mode beta, sweeping changes to Steam’s community and launch of Steam Greenlight. Last week, reports of Valve’s hardware plans continued circulating, including the fact that its first hardware beta could come as soon as next year.

We’ve reached out to Valve for comment about the Federation of German Consumer Organization’s claims and will update with any statement we receive.

Killzone Trilogy Inbound

Sony has officially announced that the Killzone Trilogy exists and that it'll be coming out on October 23rd in the US and October 24th in Europe.

It'll contain Killzone HD – a shiny remaster of the PS2 title which will have full trophy support – as well as Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 which both appeared on PlayStation 3.

But that's not all. The trilogy will also contain all map packs for the last two installments of the series.

That means for Killzone 2 you'll get:

• Steel & Titanium Map Pack
• Flash & Thunder Map Pack
• Napalm & Cordite Map Pack

And for Killzone 3 that means you'll get:

• Killzone 3 Steel Rain Map Pack
• Killzone 3 Retro Map Pack
• Killzone 3 From The Ashes Map Pack

The trilogy will retail at  $39.99 and €49.99/£40.84 in Europe.

Battlefield 4 Will Stay in Modern Setting

After being randomly revealed in a Medal of Honor: Warfighter promotion, we now have more details about DICE's in-development Battlefield 4. In a talk at GDC Europe, DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson confirmed the setting of the game.

As reported by Joystiq, "We still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is. We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful."

He also hinted that another Bad Company game isn't out of the question, stating, "I know Battlefield 4 is probably the most creative name we ever could come up with. I can't comment any more on that games because it's all secret."

Perhaps we'll hear more specifics after publisher Electronic Arts gets Medal of Honor: Warfighter out the door this fall. A closed beta test for Battlefield 4 is expected later next year after several more downloadable content releases for Battlefield 3.

LittleBigPlanet Vita Release Date Announced

Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet Vita will hit stores on September 19th in Europe and September 25th in North America. The game is set on “the mysterious traveling planet of Carnivalia” and allows players to share levels on the go over 3G or Wi-Fi.

LittleBigPlanet Vita also features new touchscreen support allowing players to manipulate multiple objects at once using the lasso tool. The rear touch screen can be used to move the camera, and the Vita’s microphone can be used to record sound effects or voiceover for levels. The front or back camera can also be used to take pictures to create custom stickers.

Dance Central 3 Release Date Announced

Harmonix has announced that Dance Central 3 will hit stores on October 16th in North America and October 19th in Europe, Australia and Japan. Dance Central 3 will include 40 songs total, and Harmonix revealed 11 new songs today. Combined with the ten songs announced at E3, we know 21 songs so far:

Dance Central 3 will include a story mode that has players interacting with crews to learn dance moves from various decades. Fan favorite crew Flash4ward will return, and plenty of other crews are expected to be announced later.
