Modern Warfare 4 Rumor Debunked by Voice Actor

The voice actor who plays Captain Price has debunked rumors of a new Modern Warfare sequel. After reports last week that he claimed to be working on Modern Warfare 4, actor Bill Murray (no, not the Ghostbusters/Caddyshack Bill Murray) now says on Twitter that the report is “not accurate,” adding that he “told the guy I was doing a special new Modern Warfare for China, not MW4.”

Last week’s report suggested that Murray said “Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games.” At the time, Infinity Ward simply commented “Interesting news today, but it’s not true. We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation.”

Murray is likely referring to Activision's partnership with Chinese publisher Tencent, which led to Call of Duty Online in Japan. Other previous Modern Warfare 4 rumors, including alleged information about new game modes and levels, remain unconfirmed.

First Look at Dr. Lecter from NBC's Hannibal!

The first images of actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as the iconic/sadistic Dr. Hannibal Lecter are now online, over at EW.com. So head over to the gallery to check out eight new photos from Bryan Fuller's (Pushing Daisies) new NBC series, Hannibal, based on the famous characters from Thomas Harris' novels Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs.

In the photos you'll see Fuller, along with Hugh Dancy as Agent Will Graham (played by Edward Norton in Red Dragon and William Peterson in Manhunter) and Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford (portrayed by a handful of actors including Harvey Keitel and Scott Glenn). Hannibal revolves around the partnership formed between Graham and Lecter; solving serial murder cases together while Lecter's own proclivity for, ahem, eating human flesh remains a secret.

Those Idris Elba as James Bond Rumors are Back

The name's Elba, Idris Elba. Yes, the rumor mill is abuzz again that the Thor and Luther actor might succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond once the current 007 retires his license to kill. (Craig is currently slated to play the British secret agent through Bond 25.)

The rumors have made the rounds before, but this time they've been rekindled by none other than Skyfall actress Naomie Harris, who stars with Elba in the upcoming Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

In a chat with The Huffington Post, Harris revealed, "I didn’t realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris [Elba] and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli [James Bond producer] and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond. And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he’s a great guy."

Harris added that she wasn't even aware that Elba was a fellow Brit until she worked with as she only knew him from his role on The Wire.

While there might very well be a black James Bond in the future, Elba's age may work against him. Let's say Craig will be Bond for the next 4-6 years then that means Elba would be 46 years-old at the time he'd be cast as Bond. (Craig will be 50 at that point.)

This would tie Elba with Roger Moore, who was a boyish-looking 46 when he first played Bond. (Timothy Dalton was 43, Pierce Brosnan was 42, Sean Connery was 32, and George Lazenby was 30).

Elba was most recently seen onscreen in Prometheus and will soon be seen in Thor: The Dark World and Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi epic Pacific Rim.

The Hobbit's Andy Serkis to Direct Animal Farm

Actor-turned-director Andy Serkis is making the leap from J.R.R. Tolkien to George Orwell.

The Hollywood Reporter says the Lord of the Rings and Rise of the Planet of the Apes actor will direct a feature film adaptation of Orwell's literary classic Animal Farm. Serkis' company The Imaginarium will produce the film, which recounts Orwell's allegorical tale about an animal society rebelling against oppression only to find their quest for justice and progress has led to a different kind of totalitarianism.

Serkis may also play a role in the movie, but for now he's concentrating on developing the project as its director.

Serkis -- the leader in performance-capture acting best known for his roles as Gollum, King Kong, and Apes' Caesar -- stepped behind the camera to direct second unit photography on The Hobbit.

“I think we found a rather fresh way of looking at it,” Serkis told THR. “It is definitely using performance capture but we are using an amalgamation of filming styles to create the environments.... We are in proof of concept stage at the moment, designing characters and experimenting on our stage with the designs."

Serkis added, “We’re keeping it fable-istic and [aimed at] a family audience. We are not going to handle the politics in a heavy-handed fashion. It is going to be emotionally centered in a way that I don’t think has been seen before. The point of view that we take will be slightly different to how it is normally portrayed and the characters—we are examining this in a new light.”

Sinestro Enters the Mindscape

Actor Mark Strong (Kick-Ass, Green Lantern) is now set to star in the Jaume Collet-Serra and Peter Safran-produced Mindscape, a new paranormal caper from the filmmakers' Ombra Films. Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) and Brian Cox (X2) have also joined the cast.

According to Deadline, the story centers on a man capable of entering people's memories who takes on the case of a genius, troubled teenage girl to determine if she's a sociopath or a trauma victim.

Production began today, and plans to shoot on location in France, Barcelona and Canada.

Bond's New Q May Join Spielberg's Robopocalypse

Soon to be seen as the new "Q" in the next James Bond film Skyfall, British actor Ben Whishaw may play a techie of a very different sort in Steven Spielberg's next film, Robopocalypse.

Variety reports that Whishaw, also appearing in this fall's Cloud Atlas, is "at the top of DreamWorks' list since the casting process began to play a hacker named Lurker." No formal offer has been made yet, though.

This report comes on the heels of the news that Anne Hathaway is in talks to play the female lead opposite Chris Hemsworth and that former 20th Century Fox boss Tom Rothman has come aboard to produce the adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's book.

Robopocalypse is set to open April 25, 2014.

Vegas: "Pilot" Review

Advance Review: Older dude solving crime? Check. A well-known, likeable veteran actor cast in the lead? Sure. A "case of a week" blueprint set up for viewers not looking for heavy serialization? Yup. But hold on there. CBS' new retro-series, Vegas, does have a bit more going for it than your average mega-popular crime-labbapalooza. Set in early '60s Las Vegas, this series not only boasts movie star Dennis Quaid as the lead justice dispenser, but a dusty, modern-era Western tone that's brought about by the clash of two worlds; that of cattle rancher Ralph Lamb (Quaid) and casino owner Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis).

Make no mistake though. Even though the title at the outset of this pilot reads "This is the true story of Sheriff Ralph Lamb and the rise of the Vegas Strip," Vegas is still going to be, underneath the historical histrionics, a procedural. Lamb will solve a crime each week; a murder that will most likely have to do with shady strip dealings causing him to passive-aggressively butt heads with transplanted Chicago mobster Savino. But while Vegas may not be totally off-brand for CBS, it gets some extra points for tweaking the formula.

As Savino's plane lands outside Vegas, pointedly throwing Lamb's herd of a cattle into a frenzy, it's clear that Lamb's peaceful post-war life, and the lives of those living in the Vegas vicinity, will never be the same. Savino's in town to help whip a casino called The Savoy into shape, but with Chiklis' Savino comes a sort of calm logic that you wouldn't expect. He's more Ace Rothstein than he is Nicky Santoro, if we're going by the yin and yang of Scorsese's Casino. He doesn't have it out for innocent citizens, but instead the inept and corrupt goons and thugs that have caused him to have to move to Las Vegas to fix a hotel that's bleeding money. Yes, it's interesting to pit Quaid's rootin' tootin' rustler against a "gentleman gangster," but the mostly-polite Savino also comes off a bit toothless.

So I would expect that, down the line, things will get much more vicious between the two. Because the conflict that we might be anticipating from these two actors is not really present in this series opener. Instead, we're given the tale of how a reluctant Lamb, who was a former crack MP investigator, becomes acting Vegas Sheriff. "Ask a few questions. Listen to what people say. What they don't say is just as important." That's Lamb's low-key take on solving murders that he shares with his brother Jack (a fresh off Terra Nova Jason O'Mara), who Lamb brings along for the ride when the Mayor asks Lamb to solve the murder of the Governor's niece, Samantha. Fortunately for Lamb, the real Sheriff is nowhere to be found (aka "hiding from the mob") and the Mayor knows Lamb from the war and can testify to his stubborn determination when it comes to tracking down perps.

Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Memento) is also on hand as an Assistant DA whose family ranch was next to the Lamb's ranch when she was growing up. So she represents both an "in" with the slick political crowd and a down home girl who will probably wind up being a love interest for a seemingly non-interested Lamb. I say non-interested because Lamb, a widower, for all his gruffness, really just wants to tend to his herd. He only agrees to find Samantha's killer so that he can get back to his ranch. And because he's not actually the Sheriff, he doesn't feel compelled to follow any of the pesky rules that come along with the title. By the end though, Lamb sees that he can actually step up and face the corruption that surrounds him when he's got a star pinned to his vest. And he likes feeling in control again.

Vegas isn't perfect, and it may very well fall too deeply into the less-interesting "case of the week" zone after a few episodes, but it does represent a couple of interesting left turns for CBS. And for those of you who might be a bit exhausted by the veneer of the '60s on TV, Quaid's side of the fence shows us that not everything was highballs and fedoras.

Vegas premieres on Tuesday, September 25th at 10/9c on CBS.

Boondock Saints 3 Happening?

Norman Reedus is best known as The Walking Dead's Daryl Dixon these days, but Boondock Saints fans will always think of the actor as Murphy MacManus. And now Reedus says a third film in that cult fave series could be happening.

In an interview with IFC, Reedus said that the film is "definitely in the works." He then added, "Look for it. It's gonna be crazy." He also noted that he was meeting with costar Sean Patrick Flanery and writer-director Troy Duffy that same night.

IFC adds that there's no script yet, but still -- 10 years passed between the first film and the second. Compared to that, these guys are way ahead of the game for Part 3.

Chris Evans on Captain America 2 Start Date

Actor Chris Evans was asked about the status of Captain America: The Winter Soldier while doing press at this week's Toronto International Film Festival.

Collider's Steve Weintraub tweets that Evans informed him that the Cap sequel starts filming March 2013.

The Russo brothers are directing Cap 2 from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. In addition to Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, the cast includes Sebastian Stan back as Bucky, aka the titular Winter Soldier, and Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, aka Falcon.

John Cho Talks Go On and Harold & Kumar's Animated Series

You'll be seeing and hearing a lot of the John Cho soon. The busy actor recently wrapped up work on the Star Trek sequel, reprising his role as Sulu, and he has a role in NBC's new comedy, Go On, with Matthew Perry. In addition, Cho and Kal Penn are continuing on with their Harold & Kumar characters, via an in-the-works Adult Swim animated series.

I recently spoke to Cho about his role in Go On, as the boss to Perry's recently widowed lead character, Ryan - who forces Ryan to join a support group. In addition, we chatted about what it's like taking Harold and Kumar into animation.

John Cho in Go On

IGN TV: Your character on this show is obviously not in the group with everyone else, but are you hoping they can find you some ways to interact with those guys eventually?

John Cho: Sure, yeah. I think that will be fun. I think that whatever maximizes the funny… The setup is pretty simple, and I think now we’ve opened it up. Matthew can combine, mix and match and go wherever he needs to go to make it the most funny.

IGN: The show has an interesting setup for a comedy in that it’s not afraid to have some emotion and pathos there. Was it interesting for you to delve into that? Most of your half-hour comedies wouldn’t.

Cho: It was the most attractive thing about the show. It deals with a heavy subject, and that’s where the laughs come from. In my own behavior I’ve seen that I deal with serious things by using humor as a defense mechanism. I use it as an excuse to dodge things. I found it really resonated with me, and that’s why -- aside from the fact that I’d be working with Matthew Perry, who I admire so much and have stolen so much from over the years -- that was really the reason I did the show. I just thought it was about something, and it was funny at the same.

IGN: What’s your experience like working with Matthew so far?

Cho: It’s been great. We’re getting to know one another. I feel like I have a little bit of the stars-in-the-eyes syndrome right now. He’s so generous. I have really been learning watching him navigate this thing. He’s very good at knowing what makes something funny. He’s also good at exposing himself and being raw. It’s a very odd combination, and I’ve been enjoying it.

IGN: I wanted to also ask you about the Harold & Kumar animated series at Adult Swim. You’re going to be involved in that, right?

Cho: Yes, I’ll be voicing it, and I’m a producer. I’m waiting for a script right now.

IGN: It seems like with animation, the sky’s the limit. You can pretty much do whatever you want.

Cho: Yeah. I was saying when we were pitching it, I was telling [Harold and Kumar creators] John and Hayden, our pitch should just be “Harold and Kumar Go to Space,” “Harold and Kumar Go to Hell,” “Harold and Kumar Go to the American Revolution.” I mean, that could be the whole pitch. Anything’s possible. I think 90 percent of the appeal of our series is “Harold and Kumar Go to...” It’s just something that is familiar and promises entertainment.

IGN: Has it been amazing for you to see how resilient this series has been? When you made that first movie, you couldn’t know...

Cho: Who the hell knew? It actually doesn’t make any sense at all. Let me go further and say Americans are stupid for watching them! No, but it doesn’t make any sense that this movie worked, but it has. I’m so grateful. But yeah, it doesn’t make any sense -- a Korean and Indian guy getting burgers in the middle of the night, and then we make three movies out of that? It doesn’t make any sense.

The Go On pilot re-airs Monday, September 10th at 10:30pm on NBC before the series debuts in its regular timeslot on Tuesday, September 11th at 9pm.

Daniel Craig to Play James Bond "At Least Five Times"

Daniel Craig will play James Bond “at least five times,” and if studio executives have their way, he will be the longest-serving actor in the role.

Roger Moore currently holds the record, having played 007 seven times in official Bond flicks.

MI6 broke the news when announcing that Sony Pictures has reached a new co-financing deal with MGM to continue making Bond movies.

The studio apparently hopes to start making Bond flicks on a two-year cycle, meaning that Bond 24 could hit in 2014.

The next Bond film – Skyfall – hits UK screens on October 26 before reaching the rest of the world in November.

Tobey Maguire Cut From Ang Lee's Life of Pi

Sometimes you can be too famous.

Actor Tobey Maguire has been cut from the final edit of director Ang Lee's upcoming Life of Pi, where he had a small role as a writer interviewing the other characters. According to sources for The Hollywood Reporter, "the actor's performance wasn't working -- he may have been too famous for the role." The cast is made up of relative unknowns.

The character has been recast and reshot with Prometheus actor Rafe Spall.

Maguire told THR, "I fully support Ang's decision to go a different direction for this role in Life of Pi. Ang shared a lot of the film with me, and what I saw was absolutely beautiful."

"To be consistent with the other casting choices made for the film, I decided to go with an entirely international cast. I very much admire Tobey and look forward to working with him again in the future," said Lee.

Life of Pi opens December 14.

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan Dies

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan, of The Green Mile and Armageddon fame, died Monday morning after suffering complications after a heart attack. He was 54.

According to a statement issued by a representative for Duncan's fiancee, TV personality Rev. Omarosa Manigault, Duncan "never fully recovered" from the myocardial infarction he suffered in July. He remained hospitalized at a Los Angeles hospital until his death.

Duncan began his Hollywood career as a security guard for the likes of superstars Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Notorious B.I.G. He landed his first significant Hollywood role as Bear in 1998's sci-fi blockbuster Armageddon, but he is best remembered as John Coffey in the 1999 drama The Green Mile, a breakout performance for which he was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He subsequently had notable parts in The Whole Nine Yards, Brother Bear, Planet of the Apes, Sin City and Daredevil, amongst others.

Duncan also made a number of television appearances in high profile shows such as Bones, Chuck, and Two and a Half Men. He most recently appeared on The Finder on the Fox Network.

Standing at around 6 foot 5 inches and possessing a rich, deep voice, Clarke was a magnetic presence onscreen. He will be missed.

Guy Pearce Just a Cameo in Iron Man 3?

Ha! Remember when Guy Pearce starred in that remake of The Time Machine? Well, that almost-forgotten film was mentioned in a new interview with the actor, where he also let drop that his role in Iron Man 3 is essentially a cameo.

"The main difference was that, when I did The Time Machine, I was pretty much in all of it, so it was a really grueling experience," he told Vulture. "Prometheus and Iron Man are really kind of cameo stuff, so the experience of shooting them ... I mean, on some level, it's tricky because you feel like a bit of an outsider. You don’t really live the experience that you do when you're there all day every day with everybody. But at the same time, it can be more fun sometimes because you're just working in concentrated spurts."

Pearce also talked about how he almost played Daredevil back in the day.

"The thing about Daredevil was that it was the role of Daredevil [that I didn't want to do]," he recalls. "Certainly in those days ... it was 10 years ago. I've probably loosened up, and I feel a little more experimental in what I'll take on these days, but I still don't know that I would want to play the superhero myself, since I'm playing a different kind of character in this film. And I think that, based on the first two movies, there's a great chemistry between Robert [Downey Jr.] and Gwyneth [Paltrow], and I just think the films have a fun, joyful sort of quality about them. I've just enjoyed them. So I just felt like I wanted to be a part of this."

Andy Nyman Conjures Kick-Ass 2 Role

English actor/writer/magician Andy Nyman has joined the cast of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.

It's been a busy month for Jeff Wadlow's comic book sequel, which has also cast newcomers Morris Chestnut, Donald Faison and John Leguizamo. Nyman will play The Tumor, one of the baddies to join the villains' team The Toxic Mega-C***s.  According to Bleeding Cool, the actor will begin filming his role in September.

In addition to the confirmed cast, Jim Carrey and Lindy Booth are also still in talks for parts, with the former still considered a long shot.

Wadlow is directing the film from a screenplay he's adapting from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s Kick-Ass 2 and Hit-Girl comics.

Ben Affleck Denies Justice League Reports

Actor-director Ben Affleck has shot down recent reports that he's up for helming Warner Bros.' Justice League of America movie.

In a chat with 24 Hours Vancouver, the Oscar winner said, "I'm not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started."

Affleck added, "Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."

New Michael J. Fox Series in Development

Vulture is reporting that Emmy award-winning actor Michael J. Fox (Family Ties, Back to the Future Trilogy) could be headed back to prime time TV with his own new show. A single-camera comedy is currently in development for the star, who's been battling Parkinson's disease since being diagnosed in 1991.

Fox, with Larry David, on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The show is reportedly "inspired" by Fox's own life, which suggests that his condition will also be front and center on the show. Perhaps in the same way that it was on the hilarious episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm that Fox guest starred on last year, "Larry vs. Michael J. Fox." Fox is working with director Will Gluck (Easy A) and writer Sam Laybourne (Arrested Development) and it's being reported that they've already begun shopping it around to networks.

The Wire Star in Robocop Negotiations

The Wire and Boardwalk Empire actor Michael Kenneth Williams is apparently in negotiations to star in Sony and MGM's remake of Robocop.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor - currently playing racketeer Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire - is in talks to appear as Joel Kinnamen's cop partner.

The movie is due to begin filming in Toronto this September, with Kinnamen as the titular cop, Hugh Laurie as the villain, and Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley also starring.

Brazilian Jose Padilha - who previously helmed the brilliant Elite Squad - is directing the film, which will hit screens in 2013.

Hoffman Talks Catching Fire Role

In a recent interview, Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman discussed his upcoming role as Plutarch Heavensbee in Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"It's a great group of actors," Hoffman told EW.com. "It's a great environment. And the character was something I was attracted to. It was just an interesting role. [WARNING: Book Spoilers] He's somebody who's part of the revolution, but you don't know it. The idea that somebody would be risking themselves in such an extreme way to join something that's that dangerous because he thinks it's the future... That's interesting stuff, you know?" [End Spoilers]

Hoffman admittedly didn't read any of the books by Suzanne Collins before accepting the part, but he did watch the first movie. He's now reportedly halfway through the second book. "It's good," he says. "I've read the script, which is true to the book -- I kinda ruined it for myself. [Laughs] But I'm reading it anyway, because I really want to find out everything I need to know about this guy."

When asked if he was worried about joining one of Hollywood's most closely scrutinized franchises, the actor noted, "Things always pass over, you know? I don't know what it will be like. But, you know, I'm not playing Katniss. [Laughs] I'm not in high-profile movies in that way too often, so it usually passes. I'm 45. I think it will be all right."

Production begins later this year, with Catching Fire set to hit theaters November 22, 2013.

Big Role Cast for Game of Thrones Season 3

Huffington Post has conformed, through HBO, that actor Iwan Rheon (Misfits) has been cast in the upcoming third season of Game of Thrones.

Now here's the rub. The title of Rheon's role is "Boy" but we believe that "Boy" = "Ramsay Snow, the Bastard of Bolton."

You can go here and see all the casting that was announced back at the Game of Thrones Comic-Con panel, but you'll see two big roles missing. Sure they've cast Olenna Tyrell, the Blackfish, the Reeds and Beric Dondarrion, but there's no mention yet of Mance Rayder or Ramsay - both of whom were referenced in Season 2.

Ramsay was mentioned by Lord Roose Bolton when he told Robb Stark that he could send his bastard son, Ramsay, and some soldiers to go reclaim Winterfell from Theon Greyjoy. We never saw Ramsay, but we know he was right outside the gates, surrounding Theon. A hopeless scenario that then caused Theon's men to turn on him.

A rumor circulated around last week from someone claiming they were on the set and saw Rheon in a scene and that scene definitely had him as Ramsay. That Tumblr blogger's page has since been deleted though.

Now, throw in this amazing Facebook photo (Rheon with Alfie Allen, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gwendoline Christie) that surfaced last week and I think we've got something.
